The green agenda is not a waste of time.

You would have to have failed to read any newspaper, watch any television, listen to any radio station and even refused to surf the internet to see that as we enter 2014, Suffolk continues proudly to be the home of the UK ‘Energy Coast’ with new jobs and new investment coming into our borders.

The recovery of UK plc will in large be part due to new and entrepreneurial business projects and across Suffolk we are proud to have so many examples of cutting edge technology making a real difference.

Therefore, as a business community, we believe passionately in ensuring many people across our county are informed and updated on that work and the real difference it makes to the economy in the months and years ahead.

Members of the business community will shortly be visiting the Great Blakenham ‘Energy-from-Waste’ plant as part of our Energywise programme at the Chamber of Commerce.

With a current recycling and compositing rate of 50%, Suffolk is one of the country’s top recycling councils. However, the goal is to recycle or compost over 60% of municipal waste by 2015 and to reach this goal an Energy-from-Waste plant is being built by SITA UK in Great Blakenham, Ipswich.

The plant is not due to open until December 2014, however, firms will see the work that is underway as once again, Suffolk leading the way in making sure our towns, county and country is ‘energywise’ for the years ahead.

  • It's a shame you aren't going further to recycle. Why aren't you bothering to recycle polystyrene? Poor show..
