THERE has been little for Town fans to cheer about so far this season, with Paul Jewell’s side languishing in The Championship dropzone, with one of the worst goal scoring records in the league.
Take a friend to watch a performance at the New Wolsey.
Travel to London by train and enjoy the sights.
Buy a week’s worth of shopping for two people.
Pay for a month’s gym membership.
Enjoy a top West End show.
Take a family trip from Ipswich to Felixstowe and have a meal.
And if the Blues’ poor start to the campaign wasn’t bad enough for the supporters, new figures today revealed they are paying much more than rival fans for matchday tickets.
At £42.50, the most expensive ticket for a home game at Portman Road is not only a big hit to supporters’ wallets, it is also the most expensive price for a ticket outside the Premiership.
Kyle Jennings, a committee member of the Spirit of 78 supporters’ club, believes the figures are slightly unfair on the club, saying the most expensive tickets will probably be for premier seats. But he does believe that fans will still be put off paying any more than £30 for a game.
He added: “Once people stay away and find something else to do, they won’t come back.”
The cheapest match-day ticket at Portman Road will set you back £22.50, according to the figures, while season tickets will cost between £390 and £745.
Liz Edwards, chairman of the official Ipswich Town Supporters’ Club, believes the figures are misleading and do not take into account the number of seats available at Portman Road at different prices, the grading of games and advance ticket prices.
She added: “Whilst I am not saying that Ipswich have their pricing strategy necessarily perfect they are trying to look at ways to bring fans into Portman Road with various promotions during the season which compare favourably with other clubs.”

Come on Matt Bunn, there are much cheaper seats on offer, having said which I used to pay, many years ago, £35 for a year's cricket at ECCC. No Goochs' in ITFC unfortunately. It is not just ITFC, all football is ridiculously overpriced these days. And some Premiership players are so overpaid they can for example be fined £50000 by their club or whomever and not notice it.

Not a single player at ITFC is worth paying that much to watch! Is it too obvious to think that by reducing the price to say £20.00 would attract more fans to fill more of the empty seats, whist still generating the same income? Lets face it, If the product you are selling is sub standard to your competitors, then you reduce your prices. Or if you are ITFC you simply opt to rip off those fans that remain loyal. How much will tickets be in League One next season?
