A would-be thief ripped a necklace from a woman’s neck in a street mugging.

The 53-year-old victim was walking along Waterford Road when the three teenagers approached her.

The incident happened yesterday at around 5.05pm.

The hooded youths approached her from behind and one of them grabbed the necklace.

They are described as white teenagers, between 5ft and 5ft 4ins.

A spokesman for Suffolk police said as the trio ran off, the teen dropped the necklace and his victim was able to pick it up.
