Perry Reynolds admitted two charges relating to a 14-year-old girl which took place at a property in Ipswich.

Sentencing Reynolds at Ipswich Crown Court Judge David Goodin told him: “These are serious offences, rendered more so because of your experience of doing exactly the same thing when you were younger.

“You knew you were treading in deep and dangerous waters.

“By the time you engaged in sexual activity with (the girl) you knew she was under age. That’s a serious offence which you should have resisted, but you chose not to.”

The judge said a pre-sentence report by the probation service painted Reynolds in a very poor light in terms of his attitude.

Judge Goodin added: “I don’t know if you a something of a tough guy, or think you are something of a tough guy, who thinks you are going to cock a snook at the system because your are just too tough and cool to be bothered with such things.”

During the admonishment Reynolds was told that one day he might realise he was not being very tough and cool at all, just very stupid.

Judge Goodin concluded by saying: “If you don’t change your attitude you have got a rather miserable life ahead of you.”

Previously prosecutor Nicola May told the court Reynolds has starting communicating with the girl through the Blackberry Messaging Service.

Subsequently the 14-year-old told her mother she had made a friend called Perry, but that he was aged 16.

Miss May said as Reynolds and the girl’s conversations continued their content became increasingly sexual.

The girl travelled to Ipswich from London on October 27 last year.

She told her mother she was visiting friends.

Reynolds met the teenager at Ipswich railway station and they took a taxi to the property where he was staying.

Initially they did not go in as someone else was in the house. However, they returned later and went to Reynolds’ bedroom where sex took place on two occasions. The court heard the girl was a virgin at the time.

Police arrived at the property just before 12.30am on October 28 after the girl’s mother discovered the truth.

Miss May said Reynolds told the girl to hide under the bed, but she could fit.

Reynolds came out of the room, but when police looked inside they discovered the teenager sitting on the bed.

Reynolds’ previous conviction for penetrative sexual activity with another 14-year-old was before Ipswich magistrates who gave him a referral order in February 2012

Last year he was given 21 days in detention for possessing a bladed article.

Andrew Thompson, representing Reynolds, said the girl had willingly had sex with his client and there was no suggestion of coercion.
