Ipswich/Whatfield: Police pursuit ends with man from Saxmundham in custody after he failed to stop for officers

A man from Saxmundham is in custody this morning after being caught by police during a pursuit last night.

The 23-year-old man failed to stop for officers in Ipswich around 9.50pm.

He was pursued by ground units and the police helicopter, eventually ending up in Whatfield where he drove into a field and dumped the vehicle.

The man was soon caught by police who used dogs to track him down.

He was arrested on suspicion of burglary, theft and possession of cannabis and taken to the Martlesham Police Investigation Centre where he remains this morning.

Police are appealing for help in tracing a missing 15-year-old boy from Melton near Woodbridge.
