Rotary Club helping families in need

The Rotary Club of Ipswich Orwell is helping families in desperate situations in the town.

On Wednesday David King, retiring president of the Rotary Club of Ipswich Orwell, handed over £2,800 to Maureen Reynell of the F.I.N.D. charity (Families in Need, Ipswich), when they met up at Hughes Electrical at Ransomes Europark.

The money was used to purchase white goods from Hughes for the charity.

President David King had chosen F.I.N.D. as his charity for the year.

The money was raised mainly by a special general knowledge quiz night, as well from a garden party and a sponsored walk at Alton Water reservoir.

The donation allowed the club to buy ten washing machines, three fridge freezers, three coookers as well as several vacuum cleaner and kettles.

Club president David King said: “I am very pleased with the contribution we have made. It was what we wanted to do.

“FIND is very close to my heart and Maureen’s work is very important.

“It is very good that we are able to help people in Ipswich, and people who really need help.

“There are a lot of families in crisis who need this help.

“Hughes Electrical were also very supportive and we are very grateful.”
