POLICE in Ipswich have appealed for help from the public as they investigate a mugging in Vernon Street yesterday.

The incident happened at some point between 5.10pm and 5.40pm as the victim, a 46-year-old woman, was waiting at a bus stop.

A man approached the woman and pushed her in the chest and grabbed her purse from her hand.

The suspect then ran off. He is described as being of mixed race appearance, on his late 20s or early 30s and about 5ft 10ins tall. He was wearing dark clothing and a beanie-style hat.
