Ixworth: Crews called to chimney fire at thatched house

FIRE crews from Ixworth, Ipswich East, Bury St Edmunds, Thetford and Elmswell were called to a chimney fire at a thatched house in Ixworth this morning.

The incident happened at 9.13am in Nethergate Street in Hopton near Ixworth.

Crews used thermal imaging cameras to check the chimney and set up covering jets and used a turntable ladder to remove the chimney pot.

The incident was brought under control by 10.50am.
