Suffolk: As companies go Framlingham-based Robert Norman Construction is a real brick.

it is now also the proud owner of a 2013 Brick Award – presented by the Brick Development Association for the company’s new build project, Long Farm at Reydon.

In the national awards ceremony held in London, the innovative property inspired by the Suffolk’s long barn tradition was declared Best Housing Development (category 1-5 units), winning over five other shortlisted entries from across the UK and Ireland in a year which saw record numbers of entries from projects right across the globe.

“The award pays tribute to Matt Cottrell’s highly skilled bricklayers,” said Bob Page, the construction company’s construction director responsible for contracting the craftsmen through Ipswich-based Cottrell Brickwork Ltd. “With its large, well-proportioned windows and innovative design, the build was structurally demanding and it was important to secure highly skilled teams who would share our attention to detail and welcome the opportunity to create something that is absolutely spot on and special .”

Owner-architect Lucy Marston said : “I’m delighted that the high quality brickwork at Long Farm has been recognised with such a prestigious award - both in terms of design and craftsmanship.” The Brick Development Association’s judging panel for the awards declared the property to be a beautiful house with gorgeous detail throughout and traditional in a modern way.

Long Farm, Reydon has found itself on the shortlist of many trade awards in 2013 and has scooped a range of other prestigious titles including Grand Designs House of the Year 2013 and Winner of Winner in the Suffolk Property Awards 2013.
