The first of the informal gatherings featured guest speakers Richard Baird, chairman of the trustees of the venue, and St Elizabeth Hospice’s Nikki Brown.

Jo Barker, business and events co-ordinator at the community centre, said: “We were so pleased with the number of people who came along to our first one and It was great to see so many new connections being made.”

Sponsors Bates Wells & Braithwaite also gave a talk, with the event helping raise enough funds to pay for three hours of nursing care for St Elizabeth Hospice.

The sessions will be held on the second Tuesday of each month, with Samuel Stamp-Dod from VIP balloons giving a talk and demonstration at the October event.
