Latchingdon: Man arrested on suspicion of rape

A MAN has been arrested in connection with a rape in east Essex.

Police had initially been contacted by a woman shortly before 7am on Sunday, October 21 who was reporting that she had been sexually assaulted by a motorist in the Latchingdon and Southminster area earlier that morning.

Last night, a 48-year-old man from the Southminster area was arrested by detectives from Essex Police’s Sexual Offences Investigation Team on suspicion of rape.

He is being questioned by them at a police station in mid-Essex this morning.
