TWO men had to be rescued by firefighters in the early hours of this morning after their car became stuck in a ford, near Chelmsford.

Two crews from Southend, another from Waltham Abbey and a further two from Chelmsford were called to Hammond Road, in Little Baddow, at 00.13am.

They found the pair on the roof of the car which was trapped in 5ft of flowing water.

Using an inflatable boat and life jackets crews had the men safely back on dry land by 1.11am.
