The incident, which happened in Britten Road in the early hours of Monday morning, is now being investigated by Suffolk police.

A man in the property woke up and realised that the home was on fire. He managed to get himself and his dog out of the house.

He saw that flames were coming from the lean-to at the side of the home.

Officers are keen to speak to anyone who was in the area between midnight and 5am and would particularly like to trace two people, who may have information.

The first is a blonde woman who banged on the door of the home of a nearby resident to alert them and the second is a teenage boy, about 5ft 8ins, of medium build, wearing a grey all-in-one outfit, who was seen speaking to people at the scene.

If you can help, or if you know who the individuals are, please call Lowestoft CID on 101.
