Man suffers ‘potentially life-threatening’ injuries after being struck by a car in Woodbridge Road in Ipswich

A man remains in hospital this morning after suffering a serious head injury in a collision by a car in Ipswich last night.

Emergency services were called yesterday at around 6.20pm to reports a pedestrian had been involved in a collision involving two cars – a Nissan Qashqai and white Kia Rio, in Woodbridge Road.

The pedestrian, a man in his 30s, was rushed to hospital with a head injury.

A spokesman for Suffolk Accident and Rescue Service added: “A volunteer critical care team from the Suffolk Accident Rescue Service (SARS) charity was mobilised to attend a road traffic collision on Woodbridge Road in Ipswich this evening

“The incident occurred at around 6.16pm and involved a car and a pedestrian.

“The SARS team, working with paramedics from the East of England Ambulance Service, treated a male patient in his thirties at the scene.

“He was later taken to hospital by land ambulance in a potentially life-threatening condition.”

A Suffolk police spokeswoman said the road re-opened shortly after 10.15pm last night, with an investigation by the force’s serious collision investigation team underway.
