Burglars wearing balaclavas have broken into a village store and escaped with cigarettes and a till after setting off the alarm.
The incident happened at the store in Bear Street, Nayland, at about 4.15am and a police spokeswoman said the suspects had driven off in an “old looking” Volvo.
She said: “Offenders have broken into the store, causing the alarm to sound. Cigarettes and a till containing an amount of cash were stolen from within and offenders were seen leaving the premises. The offenders got into an ‘old looking’ Volvo and drove off with no headlights, towards the A134.
“Both offenders are described as men, approximately 6 foot tall, both of medium build and wearing dark coloured clothing, hooded tops and balaclavas.”
Anyone who witnessed the incident or has information is asked to call Detective Constable James Cassedy on 101 or call Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.
