Transport group First Eastern Counties is showing off its new Park and Ride bus for Ipswich at the Suffolk Show.

The vehicle was taken out of its garage on Tuesday for the first time, shown to Suffolk County Council officials, and driven to Trinity Park where it will be the centrepiece of First’s stand for the two-day show.

The company will be introducing eight of these buses on the route from Copdock Mill to Martlesham Heath via the town centre and Ipswich Hospital from July 3 – seven will be operating each day and the eighth will be in reserve for when one of the others is being serviced.

David Jordan from First said the new buses had dedicated – and separate – space for buggies and wheelchairs – and there was also extra legroom compared with normal service buses.

He said: “We hope people like what they see – and will be keen to use the service when we start operating it at the start of July.”
