As we continue into the 80’s we have found these images.

This week on our journey we have found images of Ipswich Town stars Paul Mariner and Terry Butcher at the Junior Blues Netball and soccer awards, the sports personality awards in Felixstowe and the Peachey sports presentation. Along with these we also discovered images of the presentation of the Queen’s Guide Award, the Ipswich under 11 football team and the presentation of nursing certificates to Red Cross Cadets in Felixstowe.

Are you in any of these pictures? Drop us a line.

Meanwhile, we have heard from Ipswich ex-pat Heidi Grunberg, who now lives in America, after we published a picture from 1980 last week of the Westbourne High School netball team.

She writes: “I was contacted today by a former friend in Ipswich, concerning a photo of myself, on the Westbourne High School netball team. I was in shock, as I have not been in the UK since 1985.

“While I was raised in Ipswich, I have since lived in many places around the world, and now reside in Albuquerque New Mexico.

“My son Leo was also born in Ipswich and he also resides in New Mexico. He is an Ipswich native, who happens to be the author/editor of the largest online magazine here in Albuquerque. Today my son is getting his PhD, and I am an executive director of schools in several American states.

“In June I shall be visiting Ipswich again, after such a terribly long absence, to attend the 30-year Westbourne reunion. I and my old school chums, none of whom I have seen since I was 16, are incredibly excited.

“Despite New Mexico being the place we call home at this moment in time, we both consider Ipswich our home, and feel honoured you featured some connection to our long-away home in your newspaper.”
