The 43-year-old man from Ipswich was arrested on Thursday on suspicion of four robberies, possession of an offensive weapon and possession of a weapon that could be used to discharge gas.

Detectives have been carrying out inquiries into the three armed robberies and an attempted robbery at the Post Office in December 2008 and April and May this year.

The man reported to Bury St Edmunds police station to be rebailed to return there at 11am on November 25.
