A heavy police presence remains at the scene this morning, which has been cordoned off by officers.

Forensics teams have been spotted taking photos and gathering evidence from inside the McDonalds.

Unfinished meals have been left strew across the tables as diners rushed to leave the area following the attack.

A spokesman for the East of England Ambulance Service said: “We received a call at 7.30pm to reports of a suspected stabbing incident in Ravenswood Avenue, Ipswich.

“The East of England Ambulance Service NHS Trust dispatched an ambulance and ambulance officer to the scene where they treated the patient.

“The patient was taken to hospital in a critical condition.”

The latest attack – the third in less than two weeks – comes after police officers and council leaders met to draw up an action plan in the wake of the death of 17-year-old Tavis Spencer-Aitkens.

The teenager was fatally stabbed in a Packard Avenue on June 2, and a 16-year-old boy and a 22-year-old man have been remanded in custody charged with his murder.

On Monday, a man in his 20s was seriously injured at Pauline Street in the town after four men reportedly entered a house and stabbed the victim more than ten times in his torso and legs.

Police are not linking the incidents.
