Suffolk police were called to Ipswich town centre this afternoon after members of the public reported they had seen a man who appeared to be “carrying a knife”.

Officers received the call at around 5.26pm and arrived on the scene at 5.30pm.

A police spokesman said: “Several members of the public reported seeing a man with a knife in Ipswich town centre.”

A man matching the description has been detained for questioning.
