A framed picture of a kingfisher and a Kevin Keegan-inpired tracksuit top were among the stranger items left behind at Travelodge hotels in Ipswich last year, according to the firm.

A pair of Prada glasses and three unused cooking pans also made the list as the budget hotel chain announced the more mysterious objects being brought into its lost and found offices.

Nationally, the items people staying in the hotels have left behind include deeds to a £2million house, a £5,000 Vera Wang dress and a pet tarantula called Hercules.

Shakila Ahmed, a spokeswoman for Travelodge, said: “It (the list) is evidence of what a cross section of people stay in our 500 hotels.

“Our 2013 ‘left behind register’ also reveals how much smart technology has become a part of our everyday lives, as we have had nearly 10,000 tablets and smartphones left behind in our hotels in the last 12 months.

“This is a significant increase from previous years.

“What is becoming evident after speaking to our customers is that the pace of life has become so fast and we are so eager to get from A to B that valuable possessions are easily being forgotten.”

The most popular items which were forgotten in 2013 include chargers, mobile phones, books and teddy bears.

All items left in Travelodge hotels are donated to local charity shops if they are
not claimed within three months.
