The service will use the bus that provides the free link between the town centre and council offices in Russell Road during the week.

It is being sponsored by Ipswich Central using finance it was granted by the government’s X-Fund which is aimed at boosting town centres.

The bus will operate from the stop outside the Vodka Revolution bar every 10 minutes.

It will follow a route stopping at the Foundation Street car park, Dance East, and St Peter’s Street before returning to Vodka Revolution.

It will run every Saturday from 10am to 6pm – and on Sundays when there is a special event at the Waterfront.

Terry Baxter, chairman of Ipswich Central, said: “It is very important to link the town centre with the Waterfront – making the point that we have this great attraction in the heart of the town.”

The bus is used during the week to provide a free bus service between the town centre and Russell Road which is financed by the parking fees paid by county council employees to use their multi-storey car park in Constantine Road.

The bus itself is equipped with broadband so users can connect to the internet on their journey to and from the Waterfront.
