The East Anglian Branch of the Eve Appeal held an entertaining and challenging Quiz Night at Seckford Golf Club on Saturday January 20.

Brilliantly hosted by the golf club’s professional, Simon Jay, it turned out to be a fine family affair as the questions were written by his mother and the scoring handled by his father.

After everyone arrived and a delicious hot meal had been consumed the participants got down to the all-important task of pitting their wits against the brains of the question-setter with predictably mixed results.

This was particularly noticeable for the appropriately named team Rubbish at Quizzes which turned out to be the winners of tubes of Smarties for propping up the final scorecard

The eventual winners, a team named Wise Owls topped the leader board with a success rate of 92%.

It was made up of Juliet Groves, Martin Hough, Sue Cutler and David Vincent.

Gabrielle Neal, on behalf of the branch committee, thanked all who had helped to make the evening such a success and said: “I am delighted that everyone had such fun while raising £1,235 for The Eve Appeal which is the only charity raising cancer awareness and funding research into the five gynaecological cancers – ovarian, womb, cervical, vaginal and vulval.”
