Ryanair has unveiled its 2018-19 winter schedule from London Stansted, including the return of flights to Edinburgh which was among the routes suspended last year when the airline’s current winter schedule was to cut back due to pilot shortages.

But the Dublin-based carrier will not be reinstating winter flights between Stansted and Glasgow, which were also axed, following its announcement last month that it to close its Glasgow base at the end of this summer’s schedule.

In addition to winter flights between Stansted and Edinburgh (four times daily) the 2018-19 schedule also includes a new winter route to Belfast (three times daily), which is already served during the summer, and a brand new route to Nantes (four times weekly).

In total, Ryanair will operate 123 routes from Stansted next winter, with additional flights also being provided on 15 existing routes.

Looking beyond next winter, Ryanair repeated its concerns over Brexit and warned of potential disruption to flights during summer 2019.

Ryanair spokesman Kenny Jacobs said: “We remain concerned at the uncertainty which surrounds the terms of the UK’s departure from the EU in March ’19.

“While we continue to campaign for the UK to remain in the EU Open Skies agreement, we caution that should the UK leave, there may not be sufficient time, or goodwill on both sides, to negotiate a timely replacement bilateral which could result in a disruption of flights between the UK and Europe for a period of time from April ’19 onwards, and/or the cancellation of flights and routes, and the movement of our based aircraft to Continental Europe.”
