The ATM was stolen from the Total service station in Swan Street, Sible Hedingham at about 3am.

Police were called to the garage when a member of the public reported that someone was ripping the ATM out of the wall using a van.

A spokesman said: “Police located a van on the A131 which failed to stop for officers and was pursued along the A120 and was stopped near Stansted.

“A 37 year old man was arrested on suspicion of burglary, theft and failing to stop for police.”

The ATM was also recovered by police.
