Snetterton circuit will reverberate to the sound of Ford racing engines on Sunday with demonstrations from the iconic car manufacturer’s history at Ford Power Live, the venue’s newest event.

Headlining the line-up will be Formula One cars powered by the legendary Ford-Cosworth DFV engine that is celebrating its 50th anniversary. Snetterton played a key role in the early development of the DFV, which claimed a record 155 Grand Prix victories over 15 years. The V8 engine will be showcased at Ford Power Live in a McLaren M23, the design that powered Emerson Fittipaldi and James Hunt to World Championship glory, and the Lotus 76, one of the most advanced F1 cars of its time to come from the Hethel factory.

Also celebrating its golden anniversary is Formula Ford, which kick-started the careers of many F1 stars, including Ayrton Senna and Jenson Button. Several of these junior single-seaters will be demonstrated, along with its 21st century equivalent, the Ford Duratec-powered BRDC Formula 4 car, designed by Norfolk racing car constructor Ralph Firman.

Ford Power Live will also feature demonstration races from some Ford-powered stock car-based series. These will include the Mascars, two-thirds scale clones of American stock cars, with body styles replicating the Ford Taurus and Thunderbird models. Machines from the early years of the UK’s own BRiSCA F2 stock cars will also be in action. American Ford power will also be celebrated with a 1967 Mustang drag racer, one of several examples of the iconic muscle car taking to the track at the event.

Ford’s success in the world of rallying will be demonstrated by a Group B RS200 turbo-and there will also be Cosworth-powered rally and race-bred cars on track including the Sierra RS500 and Mark II Escort.

The popular Puma couple was launched 20 years ago and several examples will be at Snetteron, including Racing Puma edition, followed by parades from the Focus ST170 and Mondeo ST220, both in their 15th year.

Finally, a selection of classics will delve further into Ford’s past, with highly-modified creations including an Anglia, three Capris, an original Escort and a racing Mustang.

As well as these demonstrations on Snetterton’s infield 100 circuit, there will be a Ford Power trackday on the 200 perimeter layout, open to anything badged with the famous Blue Oval.

Advance tickets online are £15, with free admission for under-13s. For more information visit www.fordpowerlive.co.uk
