A LIFEBOAT crew rescued a man who dived into the water at Southwold this afternoon.
They were scrambled around 3pm after the man - whose age has not been disclosed - contacted police threatening to jump in.
But no sooner had the man entered the water the lifeboat crew - whose station is near to the scene where the River Blyth enters the North Sea - was on hand to rescue him.
He was handed over to police who detained him under the Mental Health Act.
