Stanton: Tributes paid to “kind, generous and unassuming” Lindsay and Georgina Wise

The family of grandparents killed on Suffolk’s roads have paid tribute to a “kind, generous and unassuming” couple.

Lindsay and Georgina Wise, of Michaelhouse Way, Stanton, died when their car was in a head-on collision with a lorry on the A143 in Great Barton on Wednesday.

Their sons Laurie – a former landlord of The Norton Dog pub – and Jeff yesterday issued an emotional tribute to Mr and Mrs Wise, who were 85 and 87-years-old respectively.

They said: “Our family has yet to come to terms with the sudden loss of our parents, and our children’s grandparents, in a tragic road accident.

“Kind, generous and unassuming, they brought us into this world and looked after us all, unfaltering, for more than 60 years.

“We now have to let them go, thankfully together, and with tremendous gratitude for their love, guidance and devotion.”

The accident happened at around 10.45am, less than a mile from the Compiegne Way roundabout. Mr and Mrs Wise were pronounced dead at the scene, while the lorry driver suffered no injuries.

As a fitting tribute, their family have decided to hold a joint funeral service for Mr and Mrs Wise on Valentine’s Day, but have requested the details be kept private.

Anyone who witnessed the collision and has not yet contacted police is asked to contact PC Dean Webb at the Serious Collision Investigation Team on 101.
