When 14-year-old Kieran Turner went head first over his BMX bike his mother feared for the worst.
The teenager had been playing in a park close to his home in Avocet Gardens, Stowmarket, when the accident happened.
Adults quickly rushed over as the extent of his injuries became apparent.
His mother, Leigh Melbourne, 39, said: “He must have been doing a jump when he went straight over the handlebars and hurt his shoulder, back and collarbone.
“A lot of things were going on at the time and the air ambulance was called. There were concerns about his spine and getting him to West Suffolk Hospital in the ambulance because of all the bumps in the road.
“He has not got a high pain threshold and he was screaming a lot – there were children about.”
Doctors from the Hertfordshire Air Ambulance arrived by about 5.30pm on September 14.
The Stowupland High School student started to move his leg and was taken via land ambulance to hospital.
An X-ray and CT scan revealed he had broken his collarbone.
Miss Melbourne said she would like to thank all the people and medical staff who helped on the day.
