A town’s car show which is only in its second year is set to attract thousands of people to its display featuring more than 100 vehicles.

Visitors will come to Stowmarket next month for the event which was introduced to bring in more shoppers to the town.

The bookings are expected to exceed last year, with dozens of cars due to be added to the show on the day.

August will also see the town’s first StowFeast event, held a week before the car show, which promises to showcase the region’s best food and drink.

Stowmarket Town Centre Partnership manager Sharon Brown said: “I am really looking forward to it. The weather for the car show was brilliant last year and hopefully it will be even better this year.

“The cars will not be meeting at Tesco this year so all the vehicles will be in the town centre for the day.

“We have still got bookings coming in and last year lots of cars came in last minute so we should get easily more than last year

“Last year we believe we had between 3,000 to 5,000 people come along but it could have been many more than that, we were busy all day long.”

Confirmed stalls for StowFeast include a multi-award winning craft brewery, Italian ice cream, flavoured coffee and locally-produced cheeses.

Producers will be selling in the town centre and in the John Peel Centre for Creative Arts.

But Mrs Brown said an earlier plan to include the Museum of East Anglian Life had been cancelled. She added more people were likely to come to the town centre as there was no entry charge compared with the museum. StowFeast will run on Sunday with the car show on August 10.

Both days will be between 10am-4pm. Call 07436 262763 to book a car for the show.
