The first homes to be built on a major new housing development in a Suffolk town could be approved next week.

More than 200 homes have been included in the first planning application for the Chilton Leys development in Stowmarket.

The homes would be built off Bury Road in the town but also in land which is part of nearby Onehouse and Haughley. Houses between two-bedroom and five-bedroom are included in the plans.

Outline planning permission has also been requested for more than three acres of employment land and a site for a school. Mid Suffolk District Council approved the Chilton Leys Development Brief - a planning document which sets out the vision for the site - last month.

Onehouse Parish Council has been concerned there would be a loss of its boundary as a large section of the development lies within the village border.

The plans are due to go before a Mid Suffolk planning committee next Wednesday at 9.30am.
