15:53 17 June 2014

Archant

A footpath in Stowmarket has been cordoned off this afternoon after a woman reported being sexually assaulted.

The 20-year-old was walking along the footpath between Windermere Road and Curwen Road in the town when she was approached by a male who grabbed her and then sexually assaulted her.

The offender then walked off in the direction of Windermere Road.

The attack happened at about noon today. Immediately after the attack the victim was helped by a member of public who called the police.

The man is described as white, about 5ft 9ins tall, of medium to stocky build, with light brown or blond short, curly hair. He was wearing a light grey fleece top and blue jeans.

Anyone with information is asked to contact Bury St Edmunds CID by ringing 101.
