Spurred on by TV presenter Fiona Bruce’s negative comments about their beloved church, the Friends of St Peter’s in Sudbury are organising an event to showcase everything the building has to offer.
According to Friends visitor co-ordinator Heather Clayton, the Behind the Scenes at St Peter’s open day on October 28 aims to create awareness of the building – described as a “relic” by Mrs Bruce – as a heritage site and local asset.
She said: “It will also give us a chance to explain the role of the Friends who help to maintain the church, and to engage the local community in the early stages of our plans to improve the facilities in the building.”
The church will be open from 10am to 5pm, and there will be static displays, information points and opportunities to talk to the Friends.
The group is also looking for local buskers including musicians, comedians and jugglers to each take a 20 minute slot in front of the church on the day. Email: email@example.com
