Suffolk and Essex commuters on region’s mainline face rail delays due to over-running engineering works

Rail commuters on the region’s mainline this morning are likely to face disruption after the over-running engineering works closed the line between Stratford and Liverpool Street.
Greater Anglia said the line had now reopened but services running to and from these stations may be cancelled, delayed by up to 30 minutes or revised, with disruption expected until 10am.
The “technical problems” incurred during overnight track work meant a number of trains at a depot in Ilford were unable to depart, cancelling services, including some to Stansted airport.
Several trains on the Southend Victoria and Colchester routes have been cancelled or altered to manage the reduced capacity.
Greater Anglia said Network Rail engineers have worked “as fast as possible to complete the work”.
“We are sorry if your travel plans are affected by this disruption,” a spokesman added.
