Passengers were faced with long delays after services were suspended and officials had to put in place replacement buses.

Weatherquest said cloud and rain would spread in from the west through the day, turning persistent in the early afternoon.

South-westerly winds could reach 35mph. Temperatures are expected to be around 8C.

Highways teams had their work cut out last night to remove fallen trees on roads across Suffolk.

Calls attended were in Harlow, Maldon, Rayleigh, Shoebury, Ingatestone, Ongar, Little Hallingbury, three in Epping, and two in Clacton.
