Suffolk soprano singer Christina Johnston has released a new Christmas EP – including a collaboration with Ed Sheeran’s brother, Matthew.

Christina, who is based in Prague, will be returning to Suffolk for a special Christmas concert at Aldeburgh church on Saturday, December 23, when copies of the new album will be available.

It features Christmas classics including a version of In the Bleak Midwinter arranged by Matthew.

The pair first worked together last year when Matthew arranged the piece for the 150th Anniversary celebrations at Framlingham College, which Christina sang with the choir during a carol service.

“Matthew and his parents are so lovely and kind,” said Christina.

“The Sheerans are such a delightful family and so talented.

“I believe Matthew’s composition is very special and I think once people hear it they will love the haunting and mysterious feeling it gives.

“It brings a depth to the song which the original version doesn’t.

“I truly believe Matthew is a rare talent and his works are so well thought out and so emotive, he is a fabulous composer and it is just a privilege for me to work with him. I hope this is just the beginning.

Christina said she had grown up in Framlingham with Matthew and Ed, but never knew each other until their collaboration.

“It is quite special to work with someone who grew up in the same place as you,” she added.

Christina’s concert in Aldeburgh, which starts at 4pm, will feature a spcieal guest, Roger Seveille, who she said is a “brilliant pianist” from Suffolk.

During the interval there will be mince pies and wine to warm your toes and raise money for the Church’s charity.

My Christmas EP will be available at the concert and I will be signing them after the show.

Visit the TicketLine website for tickets, which cost £10 plus a £1 booking fee.
