Want to watch Gareth Bale take on the mighty Barcelona next March? Do you fancy being former Ipswich, Newcastle and England midfielder Kieron Dyer’s guest for that big match at the Bernabeu?
Well, there is a fantastic opportunity to win that stunning prize.
Dyer has been named as an ambassador for Sir Bobby’s Breakthrough Online Charity Auction and has donated a unique prize for two people to accompany him and watch March’s El Clasico.
Having played some of his best football under Sir Bobby at Newcastle from 1999 to 2004 and inspired by his old manager’s passion and kindness, the 34-year-old hopes to continue Sir Bobby’s legacy as a spokesman for the auction.
His auction prize includes flights, accommodation and match tickets.
Dyer, who is back at his hometown club as an academy coach after hanging up his boots this summer, has closely followed the career of Bale, 24, and the two know each other well through mutual management teams. He has no doubts that Bale can live up to his £86million price tag.
“Gareth is a quiet and humble guy away from the pitch but a completely different animal on it,” Dyer said. “He’s driven, focused, confident, and I don’t think he’ll have any trouble justifying what was paid for him. He just needs to play to his ability and he’ll be fine.
“For me, the three best players in the world right now are Lionel Messi, Cristiano Ronaldo and Gareth Bale – and we can expect all three of them to be involved when Real host Barca in March. I’d certainly hope to introduce the winning bidder to Gareth – and who knows who else?”
Dyer joins a growing list of sport stars, personalities and leading businesses who have given their support to the auction including Bill Nighy, Andre Villas-Boas and Graeme Swann.
Sir Bobby’s Breakthrough Online Auction will raise funds for the Sir Bobby Robson Foundation, Breakthrough Breast Cancer and cancer services at the Ipswich and West Suffolk Hospitals.
