A team of firefighters from Suffolk is spending the weekend helping the emergency effort in Somerset.
The four-person team from Bury St Edmunds has taken one of Suffolk’s two “Unimog” specialist rescue to the county to help the battle against flooding.
The move is part of a mutual assistance agreement that exists among fire and rescue services across the country.
Suffolk’s chief fire officer, Mark Hardingham, said: “We are pleased to be able to offer our support, particularly when last December our fire service called upon fire engines from other services across the country to help us in our response to the tidal surge.”
The team is expected to stay in Somerset until Monday, although the situation will be kept under review and there is more heavy rain forecast.
