Suffolk: County prepares for a dusting of snow – but there is no end to the milder weather just yet

A light dusting of snow is set to fall on Suffolk next week, according to forecasters, but the milder weather is not set to come to a sudden end.

Temperatures have regularly reached above 10C over recent months, much higher than the average for this time of year, which is between 5-6C.

Steve Western, a forecaster at Weatherquest, said: “About next Wednesday night and Thursday and Friday, the winds will turn more to the east and will have sleet.

“There might also be some patches of snow but I don’t think that will last for too long.”

Despite predictions of some snow, the temperature is not too drastically over the next week, with Mr Western suggesting the mercury will hit between 4-7C during the day.

He added: “At night the temperatures will be around freezing. There will be no particular sharp frosts at the moment.”

  • When weatherquest can't even get the weather right for the following 24hrs you will appreciate why i am somewhat sceptical over their accuracy of predictions for the middle of the following week.

  • Cue panic on the streets, council warning of salt shortages, trains cancelled, panic buying in shops, multiple casualties on the Electric House slippery pavement, and the skiving community claiming they can't get to work. if you don't report it , things would carry on quite merrily. People, try and keep a grip on reality this year.....

  • I remember once phoning a 5 day weather forecast to be told at the beginning about the sunny and dry day we were having whilst hearing the sound of torrential rain outside my house! And I paid for that!

Patrick Swayze and Jennifer Grey in the 1987 film Dirty Dancing

It would take a phenomenal effort to produce a bad Dirty Dancing show. The 1987 coming-of-age drama is ripe for any interpretation: iconic music, a timeless script, a clear story with emotional depth, relatable characters and well-defined goals, and of course, some pretty captivating dancing.
