BBC Radio Suffolk presenter Mark Murphy has said the reaction to a campaign he has spearheaded to raise money for Suffolk Family Carers has been “amazing”.
The campaign was to try and get as many people as possible wearing a Christmas jumper to work yesterday and donating a small sum to Suffolk Family Carer’s Eight Days a Week appeal for the privilege. Today staff at the EADT’s offices in Ipswich joined in the fun.
The staff also held a bake sale on Monday and raised more than £100 for the cause.
And Mr Murphy said the idea had exceeded his expectations.
“It’s just been incredible,” he said. “So many people have been buying them and wearing them, from playgroups to schools to politicians.
“We thought it would be a fun idea and this is the year it seems for the Christmas jumper. It’s brought a smile to people’s workplaces and those taking part.”
Mr Murphy said he thought thousands of pounds should have been raised.
