Christmas traffic has caused towns across the region to grind to a halt.

In Ipswich, traffic is moving slowly at the A12 / A14 Copdock interchange, as well as along Chevallier Street, London Road, Civic Drive, Fore Street, St Helen’s Street, Crown Street and Bramford Road.

In Bury St Edmunds, there is slow traffic between the double-mini roundabouts by the Elephant and Castle pub and the A143 Compiegne Way junction.

In Essex, there is slow traffic in Braintree on the A120 westbound between the Marks Farm roundabout and Galley’s Corner.

In Colchester, traffic is moving slowly along St Andrew’s Avenue, Balkerne Hill, Westway, Magdalen Street, Chelmer Road and Mersea Road.

There is also severe delays on the M25 due to the closure of the Queen Elizabeth II bridge.

  • This morning, I have driven on the M40, M25,M11 and A120 and to be honest, there was less traffic than at other times.
