Suffolk: Finding a new home for unwanted Christmas gifts

11:34 31 December 2012

What will you swap on streetlife.com?

Archant

WITH Christmas now just a distant memory, it is time to take down those decorations and start afresh for the New Year. If your New Year’s resolution is to declutter your house, streetlife.com could help.

That scarf that your mum bought you for Christmas, the one that is too good for the charity shop but definitely the wrong colour for you, or the book that you have already read, or the perfume that you can’t stand - these unwanted gifts are destined to clutter up your spare room. But they could be exactly what someone else is looking for.

Why not offer them up to your neighbours on streetlife.com and swap them for something that you will actually use?

  • Owing to this not being news based, do Archant have some connection with this website, or is there such a dearth of anything locally newsworthy to replace this article?

  • Could you make it clear that this is not, in fact, "news" but a blatant advert for a website?

  • This 'News article' sounds more like advertising. Anyway, you can also recycle your unwanted items locally via IpswichRecycle (www.ipswichrecycle.org.uk), a group run by locals, for locals. IpswichRecycle is a volunteer-run group which operates across Suffolk and has nearly 14,000 local members. Items are offered for free, to other members to reuse and recycle. We recycle hundreds of items each week, reducing waste and landfill.

  • What do you mean "too good for the charity shop" ? Charity shops are always very pleased to receive new items and those that are in very good condition, and will be able to sell them to raise even more money for your favourite cause. Please don't start putting round the idea that charity shops only take rubbish !!!
