Firefighters have rescued stranded motorists from deep flood water across Suffolk following a night of heavy rain.

Since 4.30am Suffolk Fire and Rescue Service have attended several incidents where drivers have needed help or residents with electrical problems at home.

Most of the flooding has been in west Suffolk - between Haverhill and Bury St Edmunds - but crews have been out to some areas in the east of the county.

Several people were rescued from flood water in Lavenham at about 10.30am. 14 properties in Gardiner Close in Bury have been flooded as well as homes in Great Cornard.

Drivers in Haverhill, Withersfield, Great Thurlow and Risby have also been rescued.

EADT and Ipswich Star reporters and photographers are out at flood-hit areas.
