Detectives in the Luke Durbin inquiry are still awaiting the final results from tests on a human bone found nearly four months ago.

A leading forensic laboratory is currently conducting further examinations on the piece of bone found in a wooded area between the B1438 and The Avenue/Parklands in Ufford, near Woodbridge.

More than eight years on from when the then 19-year-old from Hollesley went missing after a night out in Ipswich, Suffolk’s major investigation team is refusing to give up hope of discovering what happened to him.

In March police said initial tests on the bone had been inconclusive. It was found on February 21 when 30 officers searched woodland he was known to frequent.

Given the circumstances and small size of the bone it was not possible to tell how old it was, or the age and sex of the person it belonged to.

Last month marked eight years since Mr Durbin was last seen. He had spent part of the evening of May 11, 2006, in Zest nightclub in Princes Street.

The last sighting of Mr Durbin was on CCTV walking across Dogs Head Street at 4am on Friday, May 12.

Anyone with information about his disappearance is asked to contact the incident room at Suffolk Police Major Investigation Team on 01473 668999 or Crimestoppers, anonymously if required, on 0800 555111.
