Staff from Takeaway Taxi arrived at the Moto Works yard on Stoke Hall Road, where they stored the bikes, at 8am on Saturday, April 14, to find four of its scooters had been pushed over and damaged.

A fifth bike, a Yamaha, was missing and, after searching the yard, was discovered burnt out.

Despite the disruption, the company has managed to keep the business open and operating as normal.

Milon Miah, operations manager for Takeaway Taxi, said: “All the bikes had been pushed over and all the boxes and equipment were thrown around.

“It was only when planning ahead for the lunchtime shift that we realised one scooter was missing. We contacted the rest of our workers to see if anyone had come and taken it away and worked out it had been stolen.

“We didn’t know what had happened to it but when my colleague went round the back to see if there were any more boxes, that’s when he saw the burnt out scooter.”

The company, which have been in business since 2010, are now offering a £200 reward for information that leads to a conviction.

Mr Miah said the effect on the company was more than the value of the scooters.
“It has had a huge effect on the company,” he said.

“We don’t feel safe where the bikes are.

“I have moved them but don’t feel they are safe there either if someone is targeting Takeaway Taxi.

“It is difficult to know whether this is a random attack or whether we are being targeted.”

A spokesman from Suffolk police said: “It happened early on Saturday, April 14, at some point between midnight and 2.30am at the Moto Works yard on Stoke Hall Road.

“Five scooters, four Yamaha models and one Suzuki model, at the premises had been pushed over and damaged and a further scooter, a Yamaha model, had been moved to another part of the yard and set alight and damaged.”

Anyone with knowledge of the incident should contact Ipswich police on 101, quoting crime number 37/20231/18 or call Crimestoppers anonymously on 080055511.
