Detectives are appealing for information after a man was hit over the head with a metal bar in Tiptree.

It happened at around 3.30am on Thursday, July 3, somewhere between Walnut Tree Way and Almond Close.

The victim, a man in his 20s from the local area, suffered a cut to his head.

A 24-year-old man from Colchester was arrested at the scene on suspicion of assault. He has been released on police bail pending further enquiries until Friday, August 1.

Any witnesses to the incident or anyone with any information are asked to contact Dc Caroline Cross at Colchester CID on Essex Police 101. They can also contact independent charity Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.
