POLICE have issued a warning to motorists after this mornings frosty conditions caused a spate of collisions.

A spokesman for Suffolk police said between 7am and 7.20am today, they had been called to nine weather-related crashes across the county.

He said: “There have been a lot of weather-related incidents. They have either been collisions or vehicles leaving the road,

“It’s mainly on the rural roads that haven’t been treated.

“People should take more time and be aware that a lot of the minor roads haven’t been treated. They should drive according to the conditions.”

  • Why do you keep having headlines like this.? The cause is poor driving, not the weather. The police spokesman summed it up (again) "They should drive according to the conditions."

  • the last two comments dont know what theyre talking about, it is not the drivers fault. it doesnt matter what speed the driver is going, when u have road conditions as bad as this, accidents do happen, no fault of the driver

  • The road conditions have nothing to do with accidents is peoples ability well lack of it to adapt to different weather and road conditions. Simple wake up 10 minutes earlier and leave 10 minutes earlier then go a little SLOWER ! Its hardly rocket science just incompetence.

Foundation Street is one of the oldest streets in Ipswich, connecting the port with the town centre. Buildings which had stood for centuries were demolished in the early 1960s in what was then seen as “improvements”.
