Signalling problems at Derby Road have left all lines blocked meaning services between Ipswich and the seaside resort are suspended. A statement on Greater Anglia’s website said: “Network Rail engineers are working as fast as possible to fix the problem which involves a set of damaged points.

“A rail replacement bus service will run between Ipswich and Felixstowe throughout the day, calling all stations except Westerfield.

“Customers at Westerfield should use the help phone to arrange alternative road transport.

“We are sorry if your travel plans are affected by this incident.”

The disruption is expected to continue until midnight.

  • I fully accept there are aspects of both Ipswich and Felixstowe that need improvement, just as there are aspects of any town that need improving. But your constant use of the word 'cesspit' gets boring to read...it might enhance your argument if you enhanced your vocabulary too.

  • Do you never tire of using the word 'cesspit'? I certainly get tired of seeing you write it.

  • I just speak the trust "BobCat1990" Its time the people of Ipswich wake up and smell the coffee. The hardest part of denial is admittance. The sooner people admit Ipswich is a cesspit the quicker we can do something about it and make it a nice place to live in.

  • No surprise really. Two "cesspit" towns. The train would have been empty in any event. Felixstowe is a "cesspit" so why would anyone want to come to another one like Ipswich !?!
