Motorists driving in north Essex are facing delays this morning after last night’s storm caused problems in the area.

Fallen power cables in Halstead Road, Eight Ash Green, means that road is closed in both directions so the emergency services and power engineers can deal with the scene.

Part of the Rayleigh Road in Hadleigh, Essex, is also currently closed because of flooding.

Meanwhile, the Orwell Bridge, near Ipswich, has now re-opened to traffic as the strong winds begin to ease in Suffolk.

Surface water caused by last night’s heavy rain could cause some problems for motorists, who are advised to take care this morning.

If you spot anything on the roads, call the newsdesk on 01437 324788.
