Emergency services were called to a two-vehicle crash at a busy junction in Ipswich on Sunday night.

A Toyota Corolla and a Renault Laguna were involved in a collision in Bramford Road, outside Lloyds Bank at the Yarmouth Road and Chevallier Street junction, at 7.35pm, a Suffolk Constabulary spokesman said.

Three fire engines and the ambulance service were called to the scene amid concerns for one of the drivers who was initially suspected to have suffered a potential neck injury.

But his injuries were later downgraded. Firefighters did not need to cut free anyone at the scene, police said.

Officers helped direct traffic but did not put in place any closures.

“Traffic was able to pass but it was tight,” a force spokesman said.

The incident had been dealt with by 8.30pm. Recovery services had cleared the scene by around 9.30pm.

It is thought the man was taken to hospital to be checked over, but police could not confirm this.

There were no arrests at the scene.
